Offer Free Shipping on Single Listing over x Dollars

I would like to offer Free shipping, but do not want to do so on an entire cart where it could cost me a lot. Rather I would like to be able to offer Free shipping on single listings over $50 for example.
It would be nice if the option were to offer Free shipping per listing instead of per the entire store.

Yes, I’ve been got by this too because I sell a lot of cheap books along with more expensive collector books. I recently had someone buy 35# of books to meet my $50 minimum, and the shipping I paid was $30…
If we can’t discount individual books, then a way to limit the poundage would be helpful.
